A look at Montreal Canadiens colors

Pietro Triassi is one of the biggest Montreal Canadiens fans in the world. He loves everything about the organization, from its history to its current line-up.

For today's blog, Pietro Triassi discusses the Montreal Canadiens' colors and uniforms, which he is proud to wear whenever he can.

The letters "C" and "H"

People first saw the "C" and "H" of the Montreal Canadiens during the 1917-18 season when the team changed its name from Club athlétique Canadien to Club de hockey Canadien. In the mid-20th century, in '52, the letters officially became the logo of the team.

Blue, red, and white

The blue, red, and white predate even the letters "C" and "H" in Canadiens history, Pietro Triassi notes. The home jersey is mostly red with four white and blue stripes across the arms, chest, and waist. The team's away jersey is predominantly white with a red and blue stripe across the waist. There are also red at both arm sleeves and red shoulder yokes.

Origins of the design

The jerseys were designed in 1914. It changed in 1925 to what it looks like today. The jersey itself is so beloved that it is often called La Sainte-Flanelle or The Holy Flannel Sweater in Quebec, Pietro Triassi adds.
